Musical hurricane Kameel is the energetic trio of top musicians Patrick Steenaerts (guitar), Hans Mullens (bass) and Geert Roelofs (drums). Their debut album 'Barkas' will be released on February 28, 2020 (label: Poplar). A very dynamic album with instrumental compositions full of experiment and beautiful melodies. Sometimes danceable, sometimes erratic, crooked or angular, but always without compromise.
"Barkas" sounds dark, threatening, mysterious, cinematic, in your face, but also contains a lot of humour, sometimes groovy and then again free ... Jazz for punks! They get influences from progressive rock, jazz, psychedelica, avant-garde pop, ambient and blues. In short: genre bending!

'Barkas' was recorded at GAM Studios in the summer of 2019 with producer Micha Volders (producer of Whispering Sons, The Sore Losers, The Germans, Gruppo Di Pawlowski, etc.). Onno Hesselink provided the artwork in collaboration with photographer Alex Salinas.
